About Pault, the octopus oracle

Pault is a playful World Cup match predictor inspired by Paul the Octopus, the cephalopod who famously forecast results at the 2010 tournament. Choose any two national teams and Pault predicts a winner using a transparent, weighted model.

How the prediction works

Each forecast blends three signals: a team's FIFA-style ranking points (weighted most heavily), their recent form across the last five matches, and a deterministic head-to-head bias for the specific matchup. The result is a win probability, a conviction score, and the single factor that most influenced the call. It is built for fun and is not betting advice.

Community predictions

After Pault makes a call you can back it or doubt it. Votes feed a live leaderboard showing which teams the crowd is backing across all predictions.
